The people of Gaza are enduring genocide, according to Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, Médecins Sans Frontières, and many other organizations.

They lost homes, professional jobs, access to healthcare and education, and their basic dignity. They have lost family members, their own parents, their own children. The UN has failed to take action to prevent the current situation, or do anything meaningful to stop it.

The flow of aid into Gaza is restricted at the border. The few convoys that are allowed must face both thieves and airstrikes. This has led to widespread shortages of every basic necessity. In addition to suffering from disease, with few hospitals left, they are starving.

Each day, mothers and fathers wake up to greet their children, longing to provide for them, as they once did. While the prices for many things are high, it is possible to purchase flour in bulk, at a comparable price to a Western market. The people of Deir al-Balah are eager to fetch the firewood and water, sift the flour through a screen, make the dough, and cook the bread.

This project can connect those of us who wish to help with the families who need the funds to make their own daily bread, to feel the humanity of taking action for themselves to survive.
